  • When we went BR, we were allowed to keep the sky and mobile phone contracts. We did find getting a rental property difficult most agents either wouldn't touch us or wanted 6 months rent up front.  We had good OR as we had £30 surplus each month and they rejigged our figures to show we had nothing left and we only had to pay our tax for length of the BR.  Not sure if you are aware but you go to a 0 tax code  so your tax that you would pay will be paid into your salary and you have to pay your tax to the OR.

When you do your expenditure you have to take into account all expenses, hair cuts, dentist,, prescriptions, car repairs etc and this has to be what you might end up paying out in the coming year, we sat down and went through all of ours before we declared BR
