Invoice from pension mis sold company

I mistakenly signed up to a company to claim some mis sold pension. The company are called {Removed by Forum Team at member's request} and nagged me for months to sign up. I signed the courier brought documents and received a letter thanking me for choosing them to investigate the claim on February 9th.
I then received a letter dated 8th March telling me that they had been trying to contact me by phone ( not email!) for some more information and because they could not contact me said they have cancelled the claim and invoiced me for the work the barrister had supposedly done so far for £2,628.00.
I have no copies of the documents unfortunately, so cant check that, but
Do I have to pay them?
If I ignore this bill, will it end up becoming a larger amount?
Do I need legal advice?
Has anyone else had experience with this company?
I am panicking about this amount of money

Do you have a copy of what you signed?

Remove the company name from your post (just xxxxx it). It would not be sensible for us to respond whilst it is named.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

As long as no defamatory remarks are made, only general opinions/ advice, then should it be an issue if the company remains mentioned? It's helpful to know as other people may have direct dealings or some knowledge of the company.dunstonh said:Remove the company name from your post (just xxxxx it). Seem odd that you do not have your own copies or make your own copies of the documents. I would ask for copies of the documents so you can check the terms and conditions. Also, double-check if they got the right phone numbers and even odder that they been nagging you for months. Surely that is a ground for complaints?christopherbrian said:... Frankly, this is why it is so important not to sign up or sign documents so casually.

That hasn't stopped the legal threats being made to the board to remove posts or take action. Too many times, posts have been removed because of legal threats. Removing the company name avoids any potential issue.ivormonee said:

Careful with your wording, even if you believe it to be accurate (especially the subject title of the thread), there was a case recently where a guy paid dearly for it.

I can't comment on your situation (as I am not knowledgable in that area), but if you do need to go down the legal route, check your home insurance policy to see if it includes legal cover.0

Check the following thread where the company in question is mentioned:

Did they call the wrong number, or did you just ignore their calls?0

You know what when something doesn't smell right then generally it isn't ! If it was me I'd like to see them try, I have an inbuilt dislike of people or companies who don't play it straight.
If they were going to charge you for this I'd expect to see irrefutable evidence that contact had been tried on numerous occasions, registered letters etc, we tried to call you is not sufficient.
I'd also want itemised bills and proof of work etc etc
Check the reviews , and i don't mean check just the good ones, check the ones with issues, tells you lots!
