Buying Long Term Storage

I may be going overseas for several years and need to store some stuff, not much 1.5 sq metres and not valuable. Using commercial self storage places would cost thousands.
I'm looking for a cheap alternative.
One idea I had was buying as opposed to renting somewhere then I could sell it when I came back.
Does anyone have any ideas on storage.

Maybe try Facebook market place seeing if someone will store it in their loft for a fee?Bit of a strange idea I know, but could be a cheap option.0
