As enthusiasticsaver says it shouldn’t affect the child’s parents NI contribution. Apart from the child benefit if they are earning over minimum wage just their salary will be enough to get them the credits. It’s not meant to disadvantage the parents, definitely  worth investigating.

    Just an update.
I rang the NI helpline number this afternoon for clarification of the forecast figures and they confirmed that theres no point paying the 2015/16 as it wont affect my wifes pension.
I did ask them about the "specified adult childcare credits" with regards to my wife looking after our Grand child but they said that is something they couldnt answer and i would have to speak with HMRC.
I rang HMRC and after speaking with someone that told me a load of bull i rang back and asked for the NI contributions instead of childcare and i finally got someone that knew what they were talking about.
It was interesting to find that even if the child attends school full time, if my wife takes and collects the child to/from school she can apply for the credit and should be allowed it, so if any of the years applicable to the shortfall of NI payments i should put off paying any lump sums until any claim for the credits are sorted which at present is 6 to 8 weeks because my wife can make up her 5 lost years in the future years

The wait was quite a while on both numbers but it is worth the wait so persevere with them

Thanks for all the previous replies and assistance given by all on here
