Part-dentures feel a bit weird

Hi all
I've got a set of part-dentures on the bottom right of my mouth. The only thing, the plastic bit that covers the gums (the inside gum), it just doesn't feel right.
It's as if a huge part is sticking out everytime the tongue goes to that side of the mouth.
I'm not sure if I'll ever get used to that. Has anyone else been in a similar situation ?
Thank.

Yup, i had one done for the top for a couple of teeth and it felt awful. Tight and huge and yes i kept reaching for it with my tongue without realising.Hated it and only wore it a week1

Me too. Top front four teeth so not easy to go without! My top lip keeps getting caught in the clip and is really sore. Hopefully I'll be able to have a bridge fitted sometime soon. In the meantime I am trying to put up with it.2

We are not designed to wear dentures, it is not natural to wear bits of plastic and metal in your mouth. They will feel big, they will move , they will make you lisp and salivate. However wearing a denture is a skill , like riding a bike. Eventually most people train the muscles of their mouth and tongue so they can control the dentures , but this takes time and patience. This is particularly true of lower dentures. The only reason people can wear them is not because they are good but because people adapt.Dentures often need adjustment , so you may need to see your dentist , but mostly they need time and patience to get used to them.2
