Mortgage Application and Leaving Job

My mortgage is up in October this year and we will be looking to remortgage or switch product (which we did previously). I am really unhappy in my current job and looking to leave. However, I have read that it is not looked upon favourably if you are in a new job and could reduce some of the market availability.
Q. How new is considered a new job? If I were to leave by End of April (6 months before remortgage) would it cause an issue.
Ideally I would like to leave right away but if I have to, I could stay miserable and wait until after October.
Does anyone have any experience in the above?

@streety If you are considering a remortgage (change lenders) it *may* rule out a few lenders, but how much of an impact on cost will depend on the whole scenario. If you are happy with a like-for-like product switch (staying with same lender, not borrowing more or changing term), then it shouldn't matter at all as they usually involve no income checks, affordability assessment or credit checks.

It will come down to monthly cost in the end. Last time it worked out better to stay with our current provider and just do a product switch. I'm thinking for a mindfulness point-of-view it would be better to change jobs as soon as I can.K_S said:@streety If you are considering a remortgage (change lenders) it *may* rule out a few lenders, but how much of an impact on cost will depend on the whole scenario. If you are happy with a like-for-like product switch (staying with same lender, not borrowing more or changing term), then it shouldn't matter at all as they usually involve no income checks, affordability assessment or credit checks.0
