Money Owed From Mortgage

I hope this isnt a stupid question.I got into mortgage arrears about 10 years ago and ended up owing money so ended up losing my house.I had about £20,000 left on mortgage and house was sold for £75,000.I just walked away and never followed up on anything.Would i have been entitled to any money after all debt that was tied to the house was cleared?.....Thanks in advance to any answers.

Do keep in mind that there may not have been anything left over as there's usually a whole load of people who earn different kinds of fees in the repo process.

@bennydordy It's not a stupid question but it might not be easy to track down. The most reliable way to do this would be through the Land Registry who will have details of old charges on file.
If you contact them using their online contact form and include the property details, rough dates etc for the mortgage, they will check their records and tell how how you can get the information. It may involve a bit of paperwork and a small fee.
Generally speaking, basic details such as lender and date of charge would be in their old register and given that it's only 10 years ago, shouldn't be too hard to dig out. Good luck!

@bennydordy I'm not a debt expert but with a CCJ taken out 12 years (for a debt taken out against a property that has already been repo'ed) and no contact thereafter, I think you can safely lay this to rest.

To reassure yourself, it might be worth dropping this question to stepchange here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6027813/struggling-with-debt-ask-a-stepchange-debt-adviser-a-question/p34
