New build timescale

Hi I’m in the same position and have reserved a plot due for completion in Nov-Jan. I went through a Mortage broker who looked into the possibility of extending the mortgage offer. The one we went for was the best deal and allows 2 3 month extensions to the offer (e.g by the time our offer is received and 2 extensions would take us to April/May 2022). Our broker also said that at the time of applying for extensions he would look to see if there are any better offers with lower interest rates etc and could essentially put in another application for us and cancel the first once approved.

We reserved in early Feb for completion in August and still not exchanged. Our developer has actively slowed progress as they wanted to ensure our mortgage offer was within 6 months. 

Anyone else is likely to be in the same position as you in terms of mortgage expiration.

Unfortunately one of the cons of buying a new build!
I reserved a new apartment in June 2020 which was due for completion in August 2020.. fast forward to now and completion is still weeks away despite everything being complete and utilities connected (discharges and building control sign off taking forever!).
I'm now on my second mortgage offer with Santander which lasts me up until June but the bigger worry is the H2B finishing end of May!
