Mortgage single application

Hello

I am in an iva at the moment and my wife is thinking of applying for a single mortgage. During the application process I don't want any of my finances to be looked at as I'm in an iva . She has a excellent job and excellent credit rating. Will they just look at her money situation and discard my situation? I won't be on the deeds etc so will they just use all the information she has etc?

Thanks

  • If the mortgage application is solely in her name they will not look at any of your information. Technically I suppose they won't know you exist unless you are on the application.
  • Thanks. She isn't attached to any of my finances or the iva so I presume nothing will be mentioned
  • i just saw a mortgage advisor replied on another thread so sounds like there are a couple of things to be careful of. I'm not a mortgage advisor so they know more than I do :)

@chashingfreedom That's not completely accurate. Take the example of the OP's wife applying with Nationwide or Accord in their own name. There's a field in the app which asks for 'Marital status' which will be answered as 'married'.
The lender will then ask "why's your spouse not on the application". If the answer to that is "he has adverse history", they'll decline the application.
Just to be clear this isn't true for every lender as some are fine with leaving one spouse off the app due to adverse history.
