Mortgages in two countries? (IRL & UK)

I am originally from Northern Ireland but have been working for many years in Ireland. If you have a mortgage in Ireland and then move back to Northern Ireland (UK) for permanent work while renting out the Irish property, could you get a UK mortgage for a UK property as it would be a loan from a different country than previously accepted for?
