Hi
I’ve been a member of MSE for many years. I would join in challenges and get a real buzz from no spend days, from moving energy suppliers, from bartering on insurances etc.

I have been in and out of debt since I was 20 (now 40 something) I never considered it to be debt in my 20’s as I just paid it monthly and it didn’t have any effect on me. I would borrow money from my parents on 0% for my cars. (There were only 2 cars) I then got rid of all debt, car debt included. I finally owned my own car and paid nothing on debts.
Then due to in part keeping up with friends and having my first baby I started overspending. All manageable but still from nothing to something again.
I went back to work part time and in the mean time work changed the company maternity pay so forward to having my second baby and no savings to start with and then less pay, meant the debts increased massively.
I also needed a new car and borrowed from my mum again.
After my second baby I didn’t slow down and carried on for a year on maternity leave as if I was still earning. What an idiot.
So took out a loan and paid off credit cards. Had to borrow money from my mum as my car had an absolute disaster (known by Ford, but they won’t pay anything back)
I then traded in this car at a loss.
I then traded in this car at a loss.
Forward to now...
I earn a good wage but I spend too much and try to save a little to have something behind me if ever it was needed.

So here I am again. I used to really enjoy the spending diary thread that was on here but that stopped a long time ago.
So I’m going to use this diary to record my spends and be held accountable, if only to myself.
I will work out my debts exactly and my outgoings and see how I can move forwards with this... again...
