Looking to buy 1970's built house with Airflow Heating - how much to switch to gas central heating

I have just been quoted 7.5k for a new boiler replacing a 1980s system, and making changes to the existing radiators, washing out sludge etc. Apparently it’s a complicated job, so hopefully yours will be less than that! Also our quite is from British Gas who are the most expensive.

Also apparently just because there is a gas line it may not be adequate for your needs! Something else I found out today!!

I grew up in (and my parents still live) in a 1970s house with warm air heating. When they bought it new in 1970 they were told it was the future of heating and all houses would have it over gas central heating...well obviously that didn’t happen! 

Now, on the estate of my parents house (all built 1970) there isn’t a gas supply so they have no choice but to maintain their warm air unit (which is still going 50 years down the line!) or use plug in electric rads which they also use. 

The problem is that it’s such an expensive way to heat a home. Their bills are, and always have been, high over the winter. 

So check gas is available where the house is. You also need to consider that you may need new wiring/electrics on top of a new boiler, rads and pipes.
