O/S Daily Friday 5 March 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Still dark, air feels cooler.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce, and breaded chicken goujons. Tonight I'm not sure what but I'm SM food shopping first thing so will find something.
Yesterday I got some jobs done, I will continue to do jobs today once food shopping has been done.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's cold and wet this morning, might brighten a bit I suppose, the forecast says it will.I didn't go out yesterday, just did jobs round the house. DH put up a curtain pole in one of the bedrooms, I'll buysome new ones when I see what I want. He's going to paint that room today, and l'll. give him a hand.. I bought a nice new lampshade for the room at Dun*lm a few weeks ago, click and collect, so that was easy. That's it for today.Thinking of all our poorly people and those struggling with life - take care folks12

Morning All
Chilly but dry this morning, the bedding is already on the line, hoping it will mostly dry today as we are forecast some sunshine. I have some throws from the sofas in the machine, they can go out before I go to work.
I had a much better nights sleep but still woke up at 4.30, I suppose that's what happens when I go to bed at 9! Looking forward to the weekend, not that anything is happening but it's taking a while to get used to being back at work full time so I'm quite tired!
Glad the news wasn't worse snoozer, such a worry for you.
Thinking of our poorlies and worrieds, have a hug from me.
Enjoy Friday, take care. XX11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We had a glorious sunrise earlier with a golden sky but sadly that's now been replaced with cloud. And forecast to stay with us all day. No frost but it felt flippin' cold until I put the heating on.
The Friday Tidy this morning, what joy! Then an afternoon of sloth. I am expecting delivery of some white t-shirts from Cotton Traders today and hoping they are a better fit than some I had delivered from elsewhere earlier in the week. I've never had such ill fitting t-shirts and they have already been relegated to house wear! I could have returned them but it's too much hassle as it would involve getting the bus down into town for the nearest Post Office. We lost our PO/newsagent in the village 2 or 3 years back and I do miss it.
SNOOZER I'm glad things were better than you hoped for your STEVE. It's such a worry living from one result to the next, it's like living with a time bomb. (HUGS)) for all else in need of them and thinking of NAN, GERS and DM and MARIE, Take care one and all stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning folks. There's a definite chill in the air this morning, I'll be keeping my vest on a while longer. The promised call from the GP came in the early evening. He's now added back a small amount of Digoxin to see if both drugs combining can settle DM's heart rate down. She ate a little bit of soup with a small sandwich yesterday which was good.Foolishly I ventured into the depths of the pantry looking for cling film. I found one roll of it along with approx 12 rolls of tin foil, a packet of jam covers, three rolls of parchment paper and assorted freezer bags. 😱😱 All were neatly stored in a bag, I put them all back except the cling film which I wanted to use. This morning the cleaner is coming so I'll go out. I've a bag of glass jars and bottles to dump into a recycling bin on my travels. There are plenty on-street ones dotted around.Enjoy your painting session Scarlett. Bella, no wire hangers at all in this house so I'll email one of the neighbours for one, thanks. My thoughts are being sprinkled all over our poorlies. Happy Friday to everyone.11

Morning all looks chilly out but the sun is out so we are getting there , off to Ald* for some fridge basics and a charity shop drop. I have someone coming to give me a quote on cleaning the house for pre sale but I am not sure if i will go ahead as the coffers are relatively low due to the bills for both houses but we shall see if i can i will just to get it done .
Gers I hope mum is feeling a bit better

Marie, Dumpling ,Nan anRuby thinking of you all as always

Morning all. A bit dull here; I hope it cheers up as we're going out for a walk in a couple of hours.
We had a bit of a revelation the other day and ordered an HDMI lead so we can now connect my laptop to the tv, which will be great for things like Zoom concerts or fitness sessions. Wish we had realised earlier! I've also been sent some music for a completely new tune that I need to learn for Wednesday so I need to get cracking on that.
DH has spotted a recipe that includes hasselback potatoes so he wants to have a go at those for dinner tonight. We'll have them with some salmon and tender stem broccoli. My little choc chip fairy cakes have almost all gone so will probably make a cake of some sorts tomorrow as we like to have something in the tin.
Have a good day everyone12 -
Morning all
Very sunny here but also very cold I have the heating turned up for a little while. I have a wash on the go which I will hang out for a while.
I have the excitement of a trip out today to Aldifor my click and collect, Im not sure I can contain my excitement tbh !! I also need to walk big pup so I think we will go to the park today she loves it there chasing the balls.
Going to have a tidy through this morning, I do it every day but by late evening it is a mess again, I blame OH and DD and the two dogs !!
I have some prawns and scallops in the freezer from before xmas so I think I will cook those tonight with some bread and butter and salad it will be a nice treat, dd will cook herself some pasta or something.
Have good days all and stay safe xx12 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Nothing exciting happening here, Beano has been walked and I'm about to make myself some porridge.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.10 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Heres hoping the digoxin will have the desired effect Gers. I did not realise that Marie was not well, things obviously happened whilst I was not posting.
Fine morning but I think it must be cool, the sun is trying to come through, but having a struggle. I have laundry in, hope to get it dry on the line for a change. I can always finish it off in the dryer.
Plans for the day, unpick the bit in the quilt that is the wrong way round and re sew it, I could not believe my eyes when I saw the photo yesterday.....
DB is going out into the garden for his daily half hour, its plenty long enough, he has a list of jobs to do. I know he want to put preservative on the two sheds, also my wooden clothes prop and the garden table and chairs.
I bought a smaller bed side table so I can push the bed over a bit and give DB more room on his side of the bed, of course it came flat packed, so need to put it together........hope there are no purple words.
Fish and chip night, chocolate mousse for dessert.....yum yum!!8 -
Morning al. Grey dull and cold so I kept the fire in last night and it's trying really hard to burn a lump of wood. Note to self - next year, more kindling needed. Taken OH to work, now I need to finish filling the boot for the dump. And I made myself bacon sarnies for breakfast because I could, and because the bacon that was left needed using up. I have some YS lamb steak type things to use up, possibly in a curry of some description, I'll look for a recipe after. Then it'll be off to pick him up again and then the whole weekend to think about what we do and don't want from an extension. And then it'll be next week and rinse and repeat....There's a lot of not nice stuff floating round lately, so have mahoosive you go girls, and as a first aider I used to know used to say to anyone who'd had a shock, want a slap? This kind of focused the mind on not having a slap and becuaase you had to think, do I? don't I? and was an effective calming down measure...So I'm in the market for slaps, affectionate ones obviously for anyone who wants one...Stay safe in there, out there, shake it all about there...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10
