Barclays mortgage help/timeline

Ergh.

I am fed up with barclays. I need help please.
We applied to barclays via a broker for a morgage. They received the application  10th Dec, hard search done before then.
We made an offer on a property in November.
We are still waiting.

The sellers are anxious. The property is in London. We are selling our house, buyers are ready but we don't want to sell unless we have an offer from barclays.

The application is going through manual underwriting due to part time self employment on my husbands part, we both work full time along side that.

Why is it taking so long?

Last update was today, stating 'underwriter is on pause from the case' ?

Shall i apply elsewhere? Really worried. Thanks
Serial lurker..

@swtchick87 As you probably know by now, Barclays has the unique ability to mess up even the most straightforward of tasks, let alone a self-employed application. I always give my clients a clear heads-up if Barclays is the cheapest lender for their case and also present options that are close cost-wise but miles ahead in service levels. When I didn't know any better, Barclays has made me look like a fool to my clients a couple of times.
Can't really comment on next steps with the limited info in front of me but self-employed applications are going to be manually underwritten even if you changed lenders, though there are ones that do it much better than others.

We went with barclays on the advice of our broker, as i was relatively new to my job. Now i have worked there for over 7 months.

We have debts, but payable buy the house sale equity.

    Our deposit is over 60%.

We got out offer 7 days after application. Would be asking questions why it’s been paused.

Wow. That must be some kind of record for self employed applications in this day and age of covid.

Barclays are USELESS. I applied with them for a super simple BTL remortgage application a few years ago and they took 4 months to process it, sending it to India and back a few times and costing me a lot of money on standard variable.
  • I received my offer from Barclays via my broker yesterday. I’m over the moon! Anyone know how long the offer takes to arrive in the post?
  • I also got my offer today from Barclays. Took about 8 weeks and most of the time was spent waiting for them to review a document. I highly recommend you make a complaint. I also send an email to Barclays CEO and I had the offer the next day.
