Bankruptcy off credit file...

Options
I am confused, I have trawled through the forums and googled this but I don't know if I am being thick or it's just not clear...

When is your bankruptcy cleared off your credit file?
From the point of being declared bankrupt
or
From the point of discarge?
So, if I went bankrupt in August 2018, it means it comes off my credit file in August 2023 or August 2024?

I only ask because my partner and I are really looking at buying a house. My financial condition is so so much better now, I have a much better job and I have managed to whittle my bills away and I am officially debt free (I needed to get a credit card last year due to insane repairs needed on my car and needing my car for work) but we don't want to do it until I have a decent credit rating.

    That's exactly what I said above 🤔
  • Sorry to jump on some else's thread but I have a similar question, If it takes six years from bankruptcy date to be wiped off crest file then would this also be automatically discharged then as well? I keep missing the official receiver, she left messages for me but I have no credit to get back to her and now she won't call me back That was a while ago now Does it matter if I never spoke to them at all?

It's discharged after 12 months but stays on your credit report for 6 years from the date it starts.

There is all the information you need in this link here -
