Buyers offer ran out

We were told we had to exchange by feb 24 as buyers buyers offer ran out so we were all ready.  The solicitors at the bottom forgot to request funds as they were due to exchange and complete on same day.  So they couldn’t and noone could exchange. We are a week on and no one can get a straight answer from anyone. Our buyer moved into temp accommodation running out in March 23 so we are all against the clock.  The buyer at bottom has applied for an extension (second time as the first extension ran out 24 feb) and it’s now March 2 and no closer to knowing.  Not sure who lender is but how long should it take for that process?  Do they take into account we are all ready to go and a collapse would be heartbreaking for all?  Anyone
