Don't know if this should be in the vent section but as it is local thought i'd try here.
Bought a top there the on tuesday and got it home and it didn't fit, so i brought it back and asked for a refund as there was nothing there that i wanted or (i'm guessing) would have fitted. anyway i asked for my refund to which point the guy behind the counter pointed to a small partially covered sign thaa said no refunds given, only credit notes or exchanges. I told him i never saw the sign when i bought the item as it was covered and i would not have bought the item if i knew i couldn't bring it back. he then started to raise his voice to basically say he was giving me my money back no matter how many times i asked and to get out of his shop, all said with a really large smirk on his face.
Now this i find to be very bad customer service and i know that because he has that sign (small and partially covered as it was) covers his @$$ with regards to the trading standards but basically he was such an ignorant person and tried to show me up in a crowded shop and as it is a small shop and not a chain there is no head office or anything i can complain to.
Well i guess it will be no skin off his nose but i won't be back into the shop and i sure as hell won't be recomending it to anyone. How someone can be that ignorant and expect repeat custom is beyond.
Thanks for listening.

Hi there
I remember shopping in Fresh Garbage when I was a student - nearly 20 years ago! Well I guess they have different staff now, and probably a different owner, but they must have done something right to have survived all that time. You are absolutely right though, how embarrassing for you to have been spoken to like that - there is no need for rudeness.
I think you should send a letter of complaint anyway. The person you spoke to may be the manager rather than the owner, so perhaps phone up first (or get a mate to do so) to find out the names of the manager and the owner. If the owner and manager are two different people then the owner is going to want to know about how his/her customers are being spoken to, and therefore service should improve.0 -
Thanks, thats worth a try.
Appreciate that.Hello Floor Make Me A Sandwich!0 -
The shop does not have to display a sign about refunds since this is written into law anyway that they have to refund money on faulty goods. If the goods just "don't fit" or you decide you don't like them then you are relying on the goodwill of the shop to come to an agreement. Considering they don;t have to do anything, a credit note is a fair concession.0

Ruiner.....if this sign in the store does NOT qualify itself, by stating that it does no affect your stautory rights, then you can report it to us at Consumerline . Such signs are illegal, and as such, are subject to action by Trading Standards NI.I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.
