How to claim higher rate pension tax relief for previous year?

Hello, I am a higher rate tax payer and just read I can claim extra pension tax relief up to 3 years back. Could anyone advise which section to fill out as I have been looking online and I could not find anything. Thanks

Did you actually make pension contributions in those three tax years or are you getting mixed up with the potential to use carry forward of annual allowance?

If you did contribute in the previous three tax years which method did you use to add to your pension?

    Relief at source
    Net pay
    Salary sacrifice

Were you a higher rate payer in all three years?

Did you complete Self Assessment returns for any of the three years?

If you have been paying into an employers scheme this would have been catered for already. You only need / can claim if you made additional payments into a private pension or you are self employed or similar.
    what is your situation?

Whatever happened in previous years , you can not claim back this tax year any more higher rate tax relief this year, than higher rate tax you have actually paid . So usually that is the limiting factor , unless you are a  high earner , say over £90Kpa for example. In that case you maybe allowed to bring forward unused allowance . Best to give the details as requested above to get a definitive answer.
