Just wondering if anyone knows why funds are down over the last week or so after enjoying very good growth beforehand?

Elon Musk tweeting last weekend that Tesla and Bitcoin valuations "look high."
If he doesn't tweet similar over this weekend, next week should be calmer.

Markets are like riding a rollercoaster. Hopefully your portfolio is sufficiently diversified to weather the storm.0

Most markets are down over the week but up over the month. There has been no news so for the moment its just regular movements. The GBP is up 2-3% which makes global funds look a little worse.1

Sterling has been going up against the dollar. Does a higher exchange rate affect numbers? I remember a while back there was a mention of companies having their accounts in certain currencies, and exchange rate fluctuations could drive numbers either way?0

It can affect UK companies but the main reason is if you hold any funds that invest in global companies. The exchange rate will then affect those funds directly. GBP goes up 5%, fund goes down 5% all things being equalGSP said:Sterling has been going up against the dollar. Does a higher exchange rate affect numbers? So is it a normal response to put your hands in the air and scream?? 😉How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)2 -
Its been one of those periods where lower risk portfolios have gone down more than higher-risk ones.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
