Nothing in pensions is straight forwards. The NHS Pension is even more complicated.

I’ve tried to do a simple map of your situation based on the info given, and on some guesses (guesses of what your pensionable pay has been since 2015).

    .....

I really hope the OP comes back to see the effort you have made there. That’s a lot more useful than anything NHS pensions would tell them (at least based on my experience)

Just to complicate things even more - it appears that the OP is on one of the lowest "bands" of their pay scale.

If they stay in the same job their salary should rise by over 20% over the next 4 or so years. (& you have to factor in the possibility that they move onto a band 6 post thereby increasing their salary more).

As the 95 part of the scheme is based on the best 12 months pay of during the last 3 years before retiring this mean that part of their scheme has the potential to rise significantly in what it would pay out at retirement age.

I think that the outcome of the McCloud judgement being you don't have to make a choice between the 2 options until your retirement age is a very good thing for someone in the OP's position.
Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???
