Im due to transfer some funds into an AJ Bell SIPP, one of their ready made 'balanced' portfolios. could i choose to invest the majority of my funds into that, but put a little into a specific share that I follow? Im thinking 95% into the ready made, balanced portfolio, and then 5% into a share or shares I invest in. Is that possible please?

A SIPP is just a wrapper. I am not familiar with AJ Bell, but once your investments are in a SIPP you can generally buy and sell whatever they offer . More info at https://www.youinvest.co.uk/sites/default/files/useful-forms/AJBYI_SIPP_key_features.pdf
Make sure you check out their fees to see how much they charge to buy and sell.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!1 -
Yes you can do that. The SIPP will offer dealing in a vast range of shares, including some outside the UK.

Hoping for you, you are not transferring a DB transfer.
I echo what everyone else has said.1
