im just about to spend £1250 on a sofa at debenhams online ....

Is it an item exclusive to Debenhams online? If it's available in stores you could open a Debenhams card, get the initial 10% discount, pay the card off before you get your first statement (so you don't pay any interest) and then cut up the card.
No ideas I'm afraid for saving online though...0 -
shop bot .... thankyou for that ... i checked on your idea and although its not an instore product they can still order it for me
so ill open a store card and save £125 .... and close the account of course0
