Passed Credit Check

Options
So, I am always a bit paranoid but I hate uncertainty. Here is where I am with my mortgage application.

I have just paid down a load on credit cards after being gifted some money from my Dad. I was pretty sure that my past utilisation would have an impact but the advisor at the NatWest said not to worry if they were paid down. My record has been blemish free for years except on late payment 15 months ago (a total oversight and fixed within weeks). The other blemishes are a payment to British Gas that went unpaid for 4 months as I had changed supplier and did not realise I had an outstanding amount. This was 4 years ago.
Anyway, we got a DIP no problem.
Went through the application process after finding a house and had to get an exception agreed as my wife has been employed for two weeks less than 6 months (she was training to be a teacher before but the bursary was not allowed to be taken into consideration).
I have just finished the application on the phone, during that the credit check came back as approve straight away. We have paid the valuation fee and now it has moved to underwriting.
My question is does this mean we have been approved pending valuation? The advisor seemed to suggest we had.

  • I can see why you're paranoid I would be until I had the keys in my hand.

What you've said sounds positive! A friend of mine who had a CCJ got a mortgage last year, there was a few more checks but he got one. So see it as positive, the underwriter will have the final decision but in all honesty try not to worry about something you cant control at this stage.

    Good luck with everything :)
  • So, the advisor called up and said the underwriter was about to sign it off but they want one more statement from the savings account, which is no issue. Just got fingers crossed for the valuation now.

    Sounds really positive! good luck
