    A key point: You don't know what the law is going to be by the time you need care. That could be decades away. 

    You could gift your BTL property to your children. If you don't enter care for several decades that would avoid the BTL property being taken into account as your assets (you can't do this with the property you are living in).

    However, your children would then need to pay income tax on the rent, and their income tax bill might be much higher than yours - especially if they are higher rate tax payers. 

    Personally, I wouldn't sweat it. It sounds like you have a lot of assets - which you no doubt have made a massive profit on as I imagine you bought them for a fraction of what they are worth today. If you need to use a small portion of those assets to pay for your care, that's not the worst thing in the world.
