  • Would it be safe to increase MOT / maintenance as £40pm doesn't seem like much.

    Nothing for internet and mobile(s)?

Do you get free dental because of your benefits? Even if you do, there's limits to what can be done on the NHS.

  • Sorry all, I must have done the SOA on here incorrectly, my benefit amounts are wrong some are paid weekly and others monthly. On my bankruptcy application (filled in with correct amounts) its says in: £2586 out: £2075
apologies for wasting time making people add it up :(
On the application internet, tv and house phone all come under the same bracket amount is £48.00 a month. Mobile is £36.00.
Thanks I wasn't sure how much to put for MOT and service as it can differ so much.

I do get free dental because of benefits but as you say additional work can cost more. Unsure what to put for that also

Thanks again for all your help.

  • An MOT is just over £50 (some garages charge less than the set price), a service could be £200 - £400, but then if you need new tyres or an exhaust or new brakes etc each one can add up. I would add an extra £10 a month minimum.

Root canal work could be £400+ private, if it wasn't covered by the NHS. Even if it's a token £10 pm, it's still better than nothing, although you probably want to aim for a little more.
    - Some practices do list example private prices, so it may be worth a look and weigh up when you would think something is cost-prohibative. (I only know some of the example prices because of my own recent visit)

@fatbelly what's your thoughts based on the further info from OP, I don't know what s/he can realistically put down and not get in a pickle if something pops up.

Just a thought about food - would it be worth adding a separate line for pet food or putting it in with the insurance?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I agree with upping the car maintenance and dental /optician costs.

It puts you in a stronger position for a discussion.

  • I put my school trips and uniform higher ... think about residential trips when they start again they can be 100s and I'm sure the explanation of I don't want my children missing out would work. Also school shoes trainers ... I've learnt older they get more they need In a year.

Thank you I'm going to change my dental to £15 after looking at the dental practice costs for the hygienist and more invasive treatments. And up my opticians to £10 a month. I will also up my car maintenance after looking at service prices.

Thank you I'm going to have a look at these.

My eldest starts secondary in September I know that the school uniform and trips will be more expensive. What would you say was an average uniform and trip spend for one child at secondary school? Thanks
  • Thanks for all the help everyone. I have tweaked figures and am ready to submit tomorrow.
