Can't cancel YouTube free trial premium account

Not sure if this comes under Techy Stuff or Consumer Rights, hopefully someone can move it if it's in the wrong place..
I took out a free trial of YouTube Premium, due to end next Month. I want to cancel it, but it won't let me. I've followed the steps, several times, tried different browsers, etc and nothing happens when I hit 'deactivate'.
Having stumbled across this article I'm wondering firstly if anyone else here has had this trouble, and secondly if there's anything at all I can do to cancel the account and stop it from taking my money. It won't let me remove my debit card details, it won't let me cancel the account.. All their help pages do is take you round in circles telling you how to deactivate your account.
I presume if I delete my google account it will still bill me, as it will still have my bank details? I want to delete the account anyway.
