    There is a real school of thought on hear that the simplification caused by paying off a few smaller ones, and the destroying that line of credit is something to be done - even if a purist might calculate that paying off the highest interest rate first might save a fraction more money.  I agree with this, people like to see progress and ticking two of the list is great progress.

    Know that money burning a hole in your pocket feeling - but as you get into a smaller number of debts and you improve your ability to live to a budget that should go away as you know what its for.  I would be tempted to pay half the excess off straight away then save the rest until the end of the month to give you a mini emergency fund while you are getting your head straight

    Good luck £5K is a chunk of cash, but its been conquered many times.  Its also small enough that treating it as 100 1% squares means you just need to pay off (and not respend) £50 to get that virtuous feeling
