Lovely time yesterday but I’m paying for it now 😆 (too much wine!). Took the kids’ to Monkey’s wee friends’ house for a playdate in the afternoon and the dad kindly coached Monkey in karate for an hour (he’s a black belt and goes to the same karate as both boys). Then back home, I had two friends coming for drinks but one was bringing her kids for a sleepover too (she’s a single mum so no childcare so they all just stayed here). Her kids are really good friends with my kids, we’ve done this before so a great time has been had by all. Slightly regretting staying up til 2am though! And very frugal, apart from buying booze. We did semi-homemade pizzas for everyone (bought the bases).Taking the kids swimming this afternoon and then MIL is coming to babysit as Red and I are going on a date. I was going to pay for most of it but Red got a surprise final pay of £200 or so from his old work and says he will use it to pay for the date. We did get an online voucher for dinner, £32 for two courses for two at a nice Italian we’ve eaten at before so that’s a frugal win.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Thanks all, a very lovely time had. DH and I had lots of deep and meaningful and affectionate conversations over dinner, which was very nice 😁
Even nicer, he paid for the whole night except for his mum’s taxi home (she was babysitting) which came from the joint account. Very nice to be treated! We didn’t go swimming on Saturday, but we went on Sunday (and did a local park walk/cycle too). So a good family time had for a mere £12. We then blitzed the house, nominally as a team effort though the kids’ efforts were somewhat lacklustre 😂
This is my first week of five day working. Feeling positive, although I may feel less so on Thursday evening! But I think my enthusiasm will recover when I next get paid 🤣 I’ve worked out through listen to taxman that I will get about £270 more each month which is very helpful.I also worked out that if I increased to full time (ie 37, rather than 32, hours per week) I’d get a further £250 a month. I’d definitely rather sacrifice that £250 for the smooth running of our afternoons and evenings but it’s good to know anyway in case we need it one day. At least in April we get another COL rise so I’ll get more £ without having to work more 😅
Annoyingly Tesco cancelled last night’s delivery. I went to the shop to buy it that evening rather than having to reschedule, which I’m glad of now. I did end up buying Halloween decorations and a bedsheet so it’s cost me more overall, but I do need the sheet as one of the kids doesn’t have a spare for their bed. I spent £95 instead of the previous £77, but about £35 was household stuff so £60 on food isn’t bad.
Apparently it takes 3-5 days to process the refund. Now I can and did afford to go and buy another full shop before the refund comes in, but surely a lot of families would be stuffed if that happened the week before payday? Very poor customer service I think. Though they aren’t apparently giving me a £10 E voucher, which also hasn’t appeared yet…Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
