Hi all both retiring this July hooray ! aged 55 & 56 current spends circa 15k pa ,
Currently between us 320k in vanguard sipps all cash following various transfers plan to withdraw 16666pa *2 tax free until DBS’S & SP (which will more than cover our needs) reached thus drawing sipp to zero & reinvest surplus in vanguard isa in 60/40 fund & leave for 10-15 year
where would the 320k best be placed now within the sipps was thinking 160k in 60/40 (gradually through drawdown move to isa) 10 year cash (a bit too much ) problem where to place within vanguard for
a low risk/return
regards

If a 60/40 investment allocation is what you think you need for the rest of your lives then whether it is is still in the SIPP or moved to the ISA makes no difference does it?
If you actually mean you want to start at 50/50 overall and move to 60/40 as you withdraw from SIPP and reinvest in ISA or move from 70/30 to 60/40 then adjust your SIPP investments to achieve the glidepath you want.
10 years held in cash is a lot but given you have no other sources of income, and have not mentioned any other savings, and assuming you don't want to return to work then it is the "safe" option and protects you against markets falling and stayiing low over that 10 year period. The "cost" is the low returns you will make on the overall pot but does that matter?
If held as cash then overall you will be more like 5/95 rather than 60/40 to start with and will slowly move towards that target allocation over the 10 years.0
