Is the end in sight!!!

Hi, I’ve been a lurker on here for a number of years and even set up a diary a couple of years ago.
So why am I back, 3 years ago I took control of my life, got my head out of the sand and started the journey....and what a journey it’s been.
We started out with an mountain of debt totalling over.....just cat bring myself to type the number. At the end of this month it will have reduced by over 50%.
My reason for posting is that it seems like a never ending road....and I suppose I’m looking for a little motivation.

  • Well done on getting the debt down by more than 50%.  How long do you reckon before you can get rid of it totally?
Debt busting can be tedious and a long road but hopefully you will start to see the end of it soon.  How have you managed to reduce it by so much?

Total debt started out at just over a whopping £95,000. This month will take it down to just under £45,000.
Everything is planned in spreadsheets to end Sept next year......it seems soooo far away though.
  • Wow, that’s huge progress - well done!

  • That is brilliant progress and you typed the number LOL. Keep going. I love spreadsheets too. Next September is not that far away although I bet it seems like it. Have you managed to stay working through the pandemic?

Thanks for the positive comments. The spreadsheets have kept me on track. I try to set short term goals to keep me motivated. Yes stayed working and also managed to get a second job to bring forward the debt free date. Pay days are the focus that keeps this journey moving forwards!
  • Hi all, I think I’m going to keep my diary going to help motivate me to the end of this turbulent journey. Payday this week and now down to £42,100 this month from £45,000 last month.
I’m currently fortunate to be able to pay big chunks off this debt! Lockdown has helped this. The problem I have though is that I look straight away for when the next pay day is.
Anyway, it feels great to be getting this paid off and with a good tail wind, next month the debt should start with a 3 😊.
