It is not a secondment post you will be applying for.If they could replace you easily for 6 months why would they want you back?1

They like me. I'm good at my job. I get on with the whole team and am popular with everyone from the board down. When I say easily, I mean there are skilled people available in our area who would be interested in a contract role.sharpe106 said:It is not a secondment post you will be applying for.If they could replace you easily for 6 months why would they want you back?0 -

And what if the person "covering" happens to be better, or cheaper than you?HouseTargaryen said:

What if one of the two people you are waiting to retire, does just that in the time you're out in secondment / employed elsewhere And your "replacement" who is "in post" steps up and takes that role, permanently...
If you think you're indispensable to your employer, think again.1 -
Also worth bearing in mind that retirement plans can and do change, and there's very few roles where retirement can be forced at a particular age.
So either of those people might retire early, or decide to work longer, so your wait may be longer than anticipated.
I'm due to get my SRP next year but ATM I've told my employer I'll keep going for a year after that, so we've also got DH's SRP to replace my salary. However, I can't be held to any particular date.Signature removed for peace of mind1
