Childcare vouchers

Hi, this is my first post on here. I’ve had a look and can’t see anything related. I have been saving childcare vouchers for years. We save enough to cover wrap around care and holidays but due to lockdown we’re not in credit by several hundred pounds (didn’t want to stop them straight away as we wouldn’t be able to restart them). Anyway, the question I’m wondering is, would we have a case to get this money back, obviously minus the tax we should’ve paid since it was out of out control that we couldn’t use them. My daughter is due to start secondary school in September so we won’t be needing childcare and we can’t transfer these vouchers to someone who could use them. Does anyone think that we’d have a case to get the money back due to the unusual circumstances of the pandemic affecting everyone’s lives in the way it has.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You need to check  the terms of the agreement that you have.
A refund  must go through your employer.
Your employer must agree to this  and not all do.
You can check the voucher company's website to see of their vouchers can be refunded and then check with your employer if it is possible.
There are earlier  threads on this  which you can bring up if you search for 'child care vouchers' in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Not with the same employer anymore. Guess it’s gone. Not the end of the world, was worth a shot to see if anyone had managed to get it back.

Not probably at the top of your 'wish list' at the moment, but PGL will accept vouchers to pay for their Adventure Holidays.

It's worth checking what you can use them on. Some after-school clubs etc. accept them so even a secondary school pupil would get some use.
