Overdraft Charges
Options
Hello
I am hoping someone can help. I went into my overdraft with my bank by £1 yesterday (I hardly ever use my overdraft but have it as a safe measure as you never know)
The very same day I transferred money into the account to make sure I wasn't in my overdraft and so didn't incur charges.
I could see the monies cleared in my bank the same day - but today received a text to say that I will incur charges and when I log into my online banking the transaction date for the monies I have transferred in has now changed to todays date when yesteray it was there with yesterdays date. Luckily I took a screenshot before this happened as it has happened to me before.
Can I ask why this happens, is it correct and is there anything I can do?

Ring up the bank and explain, ask nicely and they'll probably remove any charge, transfers don't happen immediately in every circumstance. You just need to pass the attitude test, going in like a Karen will fail2

Being overdrawn by £1 for 1 day is likely to result in zero charges anyway, but I understand that's not the point. I know that things can get a bit odd if you're not making a Faster Payment or at weekends (from personal experience) but I've no idea why the posted date for a transaction might change.0

If you went into an arranged o/d there may not be charges anyway0

I thought that as long as you pay off an overdraft by a certian time on the day the account went into overdraft, then no fees would be charged? It's best to speak with your bank for confirmation.0

Most banks overdraft`s have a buffer zone of some kind, mine is set at £10.
To go £1 into your OD is nothing to worry about, it will cost you pennies at the most.
Add to that a lot of banks are currently not charging interest due to COVID-19 anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
