You keep referring to "I", it is your father who has to act on this. As I asked previously, surely he must know people who are legal experts in the field of probate.
My father is in his mid 80s and in ill health but has instructed me to research this matter on his behalf, I don’t see an issue with that.
Are you asking a question or making a statement as you seem to be judging my/his actions rather than offering any help?
The problem is that, like so many posters on here, the information is drip fed until the full picture is revealed. This is the first time you have said your father is elderly and in ill-health, up until now I, like I suspect everyone else, was picturing an older, but active, lawyer, who may well have current business contacts in the legal field. Now you have provided this information, it might be useful to provide the rest of the details around the case in order that people can assist you.

As Farfetch has said, you have only just informed us about your father's age and health. My comments have been based on the assumption he was still a practising lawyer, but I will rephrase them. Any chance that he has former contacts who would be experts in those fields or who would know people who are? If not then you will have to search for a solicitor who has probate and/or business partnership expertise.

If you Google "probate solicitors" quite a lot of results. You should be able to find one who could advise if it could be pursued and if so, if viable?
