Hi
I have a single phase residential supply.
I have been quoted £4500 with VAT by DNO to install 3Phase... I don't have an EV car but eventually will have one..so I want to delay the install of 3 Phase by DNO.
However, I am installing Solar PV+Battery. ( 6KWH+ 13-16KW battery)
Question:
1. Can I have 3 Phase Inverter installed on a single-phase connection. ?
2.Also I have read that later even if you have 3 Phase - you can connect the solar install on ONE phase and do the load balancing.

Can't assist with your question but curious to learn why you wish to go from single to three phase supply. Presumably it's not just because of eventually owning an EV?

Some inverters will work, some will not. Even if the inverter is supposed to work in that configuration, it would be as well to get confirmation from the manufacturer of the inverter that they will provide you with the same warranty if you use a 3P inverter with a single phase supply. You are spending a lot on your system so you should be able to get this question answered by your supplier.
One other approach you might take is to aim to sell your single phase inverter at the point you get a three phase supply, and use the money to buy a new three phase inverter, which will come with a new warranty. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1
