Just to add to the points made about comparing performace - providers do not perform, it is the investments that perform.Icenaj01 said:Thanks @Albermarle - I'll do that.Does anyone know if there is some sort of investment hub out there where you can compare performance of different pension providers along with their charges?
You can't compare the performance of an Aviva pension against a Standard Life pension without looking inside the wrapper and seeing which Aviva and which SL investment options are being used.
Its like asking will a car from Evans Halshaw perform better than one from Marshalls Motor Group?3 -
That last line is a great analogy!
Yes, both cars could be identical - as both funds inside Aviva or Standard Life could be - in which case it might depend on any cost differences or servicing experience....much like the various platform options we invest in!
Maybe Evans Halshaw have a bigger range of cars....like a HL or AJBell have compared with my Aviva Plan (which has a choice of around 80), but sometimes less is more - if that 80 has a decent selection that suit you, it is enough.

different pension providers along with their charges?
There are comparison tables but difficult when it is a workplace pension as the employer will often have negotiated discounts with the provider .
As a guide anything below 0.5% for both the platform/management charges + the fund charges, is quite good .
You can get it down lower if you try but you can also go a lot higher .
Probably also Aviva has no extra charges for fund changes , drawdown etc

Thanks very much for your comments everyone. Lots of food for thought.I'm going to have a look at the various Aviva options online within the 3-4 risk profile and see how they stack up.0
