I have just received a letter saying that my company needs to pay a £40 or £60 annual data protection fee or I could be fined up to £4,000. Does anyone know if this is legit as I this is the first I have heard of it?

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1

I did not know about that. I'm self employed so had a look at the link Marcon posted. Turns out I don't need to pay but it's very useful information.
Thank you for asking that question and thanks to Marcon too for the response! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. General rule of thumb, if you hold customer data, you need to pay for the license.
There is a questionnaire on their site though to help you.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
