Currently my LS is looks like it might be used to help fund a move to Stamford in a few years.

The best day in your life is the day you buy the Landie.
Second best day is the day you sell it.1 -
As suggested above don't forget the running costs which are likely to be significant.
My little 1 litre city car costs £5-600 / year before it's even left the drive.
If you haven't already, I suggest the following:
Plug your details into an insurance comparison site and get a few quotes. Have a look at garages to see how much servicing will cost (and blackcircles for tyres). And check the cost of VED... Add a couple of hundred for petrol and divide it all by 12 - only you can judge if the enjoyment you will get from the car justifies this ongoing commitment.

I've had lots of 4WD/SUV's - love the comfortable high driving position and general robustness
On retirement I'm thinking of buying a classic one rather than a spanking new jobbie, have my mind set on a doer upper 60/70's Toyota FJ40, nigh on guaranted to be a better investment too £10-15k max tho
But the answer is no, in your position I would not spend that massive portion if your nest egg on a new LR0 -
