  • I've read on here that previous entries are rolled over and will be included through out this competition.
Is this true as I have read the T&C's and can not find this.
Also, how can a end user be sure that the Online free entry has been entered?
I know that fairly recently a couple of Radio/TV comps were found to not include free and online entries.

    Good Luck all.

    Part way through
    ITEM 4:

Irrespective of whether there has been a winner for a Draw or not, all entries from the completed Draw, and any previous Draws, will automatically be eligible for the next Draw. Entrants do not need to enter again in order to be eligible but are able to do so if they would like to increase their chances.

I don’t know how they know but if you try to enter again (with the same details, presumably the phone number being the determining detail) it tells you that you’ve exceeded the limit. I realise that doesn’t answer your actual question but hopefully it does.
  • It kind of does - yes the message appears you've already entered however you can still then enter x amount of times by the Text number.
I think that companies should be more transparent but of course GDPR is preventing information being provided.

I’m not sure what you want them to be more transparent about.
They tell you how many times you can enter via text and you can see how many times you’ve entered that way, and you can enter online and it will tell you when you’ve exceeded the limit. Is it something else you want them to be transparent about?

Entry list - hosted each day removing the contact info and indicating if it was text or online entry - that is being transparent.
It's something that's required by the Gambling Commission so that they can check to see if they are still within in the rules relating it to being a prize draw and not a lottery (by way of offering free entries)

As a list couldn't have any personal identifiable details on it (name/number etc) what could they show that would be of any use to someone? There is no requirement to give details to the public of the entry route used and the availability of the free entry route is what generally puts a competition outside the remit of the GC (ITV,C5, that win a house thing, loads of "raffle" sites etc) and they couldn't be run otherwise.
Some of competitions are handled by specialist companies and the "radio" people for example may deliberately not know the original entry method used.
Also don't forget it makes absolutely no difference to company running a competitions if a free or paid entry wins as long as the competition turns a profit
