Does Scottish Widows have a legal responsibility to tell us when our endowment has matured?

Typically, a Life Office will write to you around 4-6 weeks before the maturity date, assuming they have your current address. If the maturity date shown in your policy is less than a month away and you haven't heard anything, contact them in case the letter has gone astray.1

Unsure but my experience was they certainly will let you know. I had a couple. One with SW. did you not get notified? Always possible it got lost or did you move address and something go astray?curlyangel said:Does Scottish Widows have a legal responsibility to tell us when our endowment has matured?
have you been left out of pocket? Discovered a windfall?1 -
Does Scottish Widows have a legal responsibility to tell us when our endowment has matured?SW send out annual statements which confirm the end date. They also send out a pre-maturity letter months before and the maturity letter itself.
The law has nothing to do with it.

Well, they hadn't contacted us until 2 days ago (no change of address in last 30 years) to say they had £25,000 and they'd had it for 5 years!!!! Obviously makes us complete plonkers for not being aware but life has been happening 😒. We're thrilled to get this even with a shortfall of £10,000 but surly we should have received a letter long before this?0
