Mortgage after DMP and clean slate

Hi
I am currently in a DMP with stepchange, I have recently received some inheritance which should be enough to clear all if not most of the outstanding balance - thanks to the lovely people on the DMP board, I have received some advice on the best way to do negotiate this but may take a few months.
All defaults are due to drop off at various points this year, the last one in November. My plan is to buy a house with my partner early next year, the deposit is in progress. In theory I should have a clear credit file? I'm aware that to get a mortgage it's about far more than the credit score and finances should be squeaky clean for the months preceding the mortgage application.
What does this mean? what sort of things do I need to consider doing/not doing over the next year to put me in the best possible situation for a mortgage application this time next year?
thanks!

Just dont go out gambling excessively, try to keep your expenses as low as possible (within reason - just in case you have to go to a specialist lender), nobody is expecting you to sit in for 90 days and no take aways etc. I think if all the underwriters could see were the supermarket shop and utility bill payments they would probably be a little suspicious.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
