This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, covering of snow and very bitterly cold - the wind yesterday was enough to cut you in two! More snow forecast for today. Roads etc not too bad at the moment but we keep getting snow flurries.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO's from roast - so we had - pork, mash, veg, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight we'll be having roast chicken thighs and I'll serve pasta in a creamy tomato sauce with it, and maybe some veg rice.
Yesterday work was busy and I had quite a bit of catching up to do as always when you've had time off. We should know more shortly.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope you hear something soon.
It's still snowing here with a very fresh wind, I resorted to wearing my hat yesterday and was jolly glad I did! Met up with DD and the little one for a walk, she doesn't seem to care about the weather, just potters along picking up sticks and pine cones!
Although it's a holiday here I'm going into work to wait for a very important parcel, not sure why the Janitor can't wait in but I felt that I couldn't say no as I've had lots of days off, just a shame the roads will be a bit dodgy. Also a bit worried there won't be any heating so am going to wrap up warm.
Hoping those with worries and troubles have a better day, take care. XX14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Yet more snow out there. I am fed up of it. We seemed to get snow almost every day through January and February is turning out to be as bad. Roll on Spring.
As expected Mr Sandman didn't stick around long and I was back to silly o'clock wakening last night. Dwelling on what I can't change and worrying about what's ahead. Just as there seems a bit of light at the end of the tunnel the light is turned out again.
So, as usual, nothing to waffle on about so ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of RUBY and MARIE especially. Take care one and all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all. Thanks for the start off NMLC. Hope you know something soon........ and it's good news.I'm up early as I needed a cuppa, I was parched and unusually himself is still sleeping. I was glad to wake up though as I seemed to be dreaming every 5 mins, I was even dreaming about tidying things away, I shall probably need a nana nap later today. It's very frosty outside and -3 degrees brrr so I have the heating on and the fire to warm things up.Today I have several things on my "to do " list so I'll work my way through it, what doesn't get done can be rolled over to tomorrow. This afternoon I want to go through some photos as I have a brand new scrapbook as yet untouched and if we're going to be still isolating for a while longer I will need something to occupy myself. The photo search should take a while as the latter ones are all digital, and we have thousands
We thought nothing of snapping merrily away on a day out and coming back with 700-1000 between us....... and Mr Fix It keeps them all !
Hope everyone can have a reasonable day. Hugs to those in need.Take care, stay safe and warm.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently15 -
Morning All
Hugs and thoughts to all of you x
My DF was "needy" yesterday so I took time off work to be with him. So, today will be a busy one catching up - I am lucky that I can manage my own time and workload and it is from home so all is well.
A few chores done this morning, hoover round, washed kitchen floor and have a load of washing ready to go. I'm just having a coffee now and then will have my porridge a little later.
I'm hoping for a productive work day followed by a nice bath and a read of my kindle - this is what I hope for most days from Mon-Fri but it rarely happens that way!
Food wise, I have some prawns and salad to use up so that will be lunch - maybe with some soup as it's a very cold day!
This evening maybe a cheese and cucumber sandwich - I've not had one for years and I've been craving one! lol
I hope you all have as good a day as you possibly can!

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC - hope you hear some news at work about how things are going to develop.Camelot, hope you can stay warm at work, it's a pity you've got to go in.TA, I can identify with your sleep problems, it's awful, as you say, worrying about stuff you can do nothing about. That light at the end of the tunnel, is it the light of an oncoming train as they say (cheery little soul aren't I) Hope you get a better night tonight.anyway.Nanny we used to have loads and loads of photos, DH had pics that his Dad and uncles had taken over the years, then he used to take a lot when we were on holiday or days out. He went through them all, and got rid of some, but we still have a lot.Nowt much going on today, it's very cold, with snow lying.I might get my card making stuff out - I bought a new die which punches a very pretty little flower pattern for the corner of a card, it was delivered yesterday, so I'll play with that. I started making another couple of masks for myself as well - something different to wear!!Not much happened yesterday either, we just plod on, like everyone elseHope everyone is keeping safe and warm - take care folks.14

Morning
taff haha cung cung yep that made me laugh!
Our deeds are being sent to us through the post, along with confirmation of the land registry update and something else which I can't remember. I didn't think anyone bothered with paper deeds anymore, I thought it was all on computer. Maybe it'll feel official when it arrives and I'll feel a bit of excitement then, lol.
I delayed Scamp's walk til the afternoon yesterday. He was a ragey nightmare all morning, every time he heard the slightest noise outside he'd race around snarling and barking. Most days are calm (or at least can be easily managed!) but every now and then he seems to jump right back to the beginning when we first had him and he was terrified of everything. Must admit I could feel myself getting angry at one point so I went outside with a coffee and a cig. He wasn't happy about that either and barked at me through the window, lol. He's all lovely and cuddly again today.
I didn't do most of what I'd planned yesterday so I'll try again today. I also want to repot a couple of houseplants and get some more seed trays ready so I'll be playing with compost later. A bit of housework this morning, then a walk, then I need to clear my desk off. Not sure why things keep being dumped on it. I'll be having a few cross words later.

Morning all Brr that's cold and white out there dog walked she loves it and my feet freeze despite 2 pairs of socks I think i have chilblains on one of my toes its very painful . The garden man text his other job has over run so may be here tomorrow to do what i am not sure the ground is frozen and covered in snow still mine is not to reason with a professional. Nothing much to do today so another day of nothingness looms i will check the freezer out for dinner ideas.
Thinking of all those who have worries especially Ruby and Marie . Have a good day stay warm safe and dry xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Good morning and thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Yet more snow. Yesterday's didn't really stick but I think today's offering might. It us pretty, great fat, lazy flakes falling, at least I'm indoors watching. OH has just come back from the butchers and says that once he got out of our road the main roads were ok. He has to take DS for an appointment later but by then, cars should have been up and down and also the tiny bus though I've seen it going past and it seems empty each time, must be so boring for the driver. And it is a nice little route, with very kind drivers who ask you where you would like to be dropped off instead of stopping at the proper stops. I do look forward to going on the bus to the shops once it feels safe. I am hoping that the route is not discontinued from disuse as there are a lot of much older people who rely on it and, most importantly, it does a detour to the big hospital on the way to the shops.
I've been out to feed the wildlife but I think they will be hungry for more, the ground is frozen so they will struggle to find juicy worms.
Yesterday's training was ok, nothing new but always interesting to share views even on Teams, which is glitch central for me. After that finished a baby cardigan, lovely cheerful red but the red buttons in my tin are not quite the right shade so I'm hoping my friend has a better match in her tin. A few months ago I sorted all the small buttons into colours, so it is tins within tin.
Today I need to do housework and laundry just to make sure that my life remains full of interest.
I hope that everyone's day is more interesting than mine. Keep warm and safe!
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning folks.Snowing here and the sky looks laden with more. I've been trading photos with family and friends all over the world. Edinburgh came second to Glasgow, Seoul has had a fluttering of the stuff whilst Melbourne is sweltering in 24 degrees. 😀 My car has snow up the wheels so I think I'll be staying put today, don't think we'll go hungry in this house.Yesterday I decided to experiment with peeling garlic in different ways, that's what comes of watching too many of those videos on FB. I now have a pile of cloves in various states of undress. Shaking in a jar might work, think I needed a bigger jar. Sticking the knife in and twisting out each clove from the bulb may also work though I've not mastered the technique yet, I ran out of bulbs. I'm inclined to not bother!
Today I may tackle the hell-hole that is DM's pantry. Of course, I may not, I'd like to get a loaf going...so many things I'd like to do and yet lack that final kick up the backside.
The snow is now falling horizontally, must be a stiff wind outside. I hope that everyone can stay snug and cosy. My thoughts are with those who are coping with troubles or worries.Happy Tuesday to all.14 -
Morning all
Brrr cold here and we have a light dusting of sonwI am thrilled and there is more due this afternoon, dd has a meeting this morning and then we can hopefully take the hounds to the park and watch them play.
Couple of calls to make today re the funeral and then the day is my own, I also have a form to fill in on line re genetic testing to see if we carry a faulty gene as all three of us siblings have had cancer in the last two years.
I had a bad night again and was awake from 4 this morning, I messaged Marie on FB as we have not heard from her for so long, I will let you know if I get a reply.
Summer in winter chicken for dinner tonight with rice or cous cous, a nice easy dinner, I think the fire will be lit this afternoon.
Take care all and stay safe xxx14
