Is the leak outside or inside?

  • You may be better getting someone to look at it to determine the extent of any contamination.  If oil gets into the foundations of the house it can be costly to clean up so better to get any issue sorted as soon as possible.
  • You’re really supposed to have soil contaminated by oil removed by a specialist company, who then send it to Germany for disposal. My neighbour just dug it all up and threw it on the top of a bonfire, which is of course illegal.

Its a whole can of worms if you make a claim. If the leak is stopped,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the smell will disappear eventually. "Let sleeping dogs lie^

We had one, similar to mummy72. If it's up close to your house it can damage your foundations, I wouldn't take the risk. Our premium didn't go up much once we shopped around

You need to get it checked out quickly. All depends on how much oil has leaked. Can end up extremely costly.  I know a family who were getting a garage built. Contractor broke the oil line. Lots of oil went under the house. Family had to move out for months. All floors (concrete) had to be lifted and relaid and even some walls repaired etc. Cost thousands and court case to get it sorted
I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p
