  • I though of this idea yesterday to make as a pressie for my Grandparents (a case of what do you buy a couple who have everything??!!) I know they use their calendar religously with little coloums for HIM and HER to write down their social activities!
I was going to use a picture of their Great Grandchildren to go with it.
I'm glad others might be doing this (I hope) as I was worried it might be a bit tacky?
Cheers for the directions to the templates. I spent the best part of yesterday morning searching for one I liked!

No reliance should be placed on the above.

We did a similar idea a couple of years ago, but I didn't know how to do the whole thing on puter. We bought blank calendars & printed out the picture bit & stuck them on.
What we did, was the 3 kids & I took 3 months each (we each got our own birthday month & chose 2 others) and put whatever we thought was relevant for that month - included a pic of each of us on our birthday months... (subtle hint or what?)
DH pleaded computer phobia, which made the maths of sharing out months easier.
My grandma still has the calendar hanging up in her kitchen... 2 years on!

Apart from a few (lets be polite and call them...) materialistic relatives, my family adore hand made gifts. As with other posts, my daughters grandparents absolutley adore their photo calendars and refuse to take them down or throw them away (they even have 4 years worth of hand made photo xmas/birthday/thinking of you cards still on display.

Anyone can buy a card, which in itself is a lovely gesture but how important and loved it feels to now that you are important enough to have something that has taken love, thought and care to create.

No, in my opinion, never tacky but wonderfully thoughtful

p.s. of subject but I once received a jam jar, filled with water and cut up bits of white plastic cup with Tippexed snowdrops on the outside. My very 'label' driven 7 year old neice gave it to me for xmas one year saying that she knew I liked gifts to be personal. It made my year, not only because it was so thoughtful but because my neice had always previously judged presents on their material worth! Special memories (and yes I still have it ;D ;D ;D)
  • Thank you, thank you, thank you a trillion times. My best friend is a fantastic pub country singer. I have pictures of him from his gigs and I want to put his pictures on a calendar for him and me. I will need to get a hold of his partnerand/or parents for some more pictures, preferably one with him shirtless, (I am shameless :rotfl: ) for the summer. I would make one of myself as well.:T I searched for this for years and years. I am thrilled :T
