Energy apps and billing can be very confusing because sometimes the bills will be estimated too so maybe higher than reality. So debit is when you owe them money and credit is actually when they owe you. But sometimes you may be in £200 of credit but then they haven’t read the metre for 3 months so when they do u could owe £300 so would then go into £100 of debit (basically in debt of £100) if you are seeing times when you’ve been in credit that would suggest maybe u don’t have arrears?Mum2Boys_2 said:I am looking through my ovo app and in all honesty I really don't understand it, it is talking about debit and credit etc. It is quite frustrating, as my bills are showing differently to the dd but it is not showing when i'm in credit.

So I have actually just had a look, they are currently estimating my gas and overcharging by around at least £20 per month. according to them based on my tarriff and energy use my electricity will cost me £454.07 and gas will cost me £240.60
so thats £694 over the year, as you can imagine that does not seem right either.0 -
I think you need to call them to clarify some detailsMum2Boys_2 said:So I have actually just had a look, they are currently estimating my gas and overcharging by around at least £20 per month. according to them based on my tarriff and energy use my electricity will cost me £454.07 and gas will cost me £240.60

According to your SOA you’re paying £150 combined electricity and gas per month? That’s £1,800 per year and seems rather excessive! I would have thought it would be more like £75 combined!?Mum2Boys_2 said:So I have actually just had a look, they are currently estimating my gas and overcharging by around at least £20 per month. according to them based on my tarriff and energy use my electricity will cost me £454.07 and gas will cost me £240.60

She thinks she may have arrears on her account so it could be £75 for usage and £75 for arrears , I said £75 is usual and that’s what I pay combined tooMrFrugalFever said:

I have just done another comparison via compare the market, they have my usage apparently from Data, this shows that i have been overpaying by at least £30 per month since March 2019 so I will be calling them tomorrow, to figure this out as none of it makes sense.
I am also on their cheapest tariff but according to the comparison sites I should be paying around £105 which seems more realistic to me.0 -
Yeah that’s still high ish but better, but does the £150 you pay include a contribution to your arrears?Mum2Boys_2 said:I have just done another comparison via compare the market, they have my usage apparently from Data, this shows that i have been overpaying by at least £30 per month since March 2019 so I will be calling them tomorrow, to figure this out as none of it makes sense.

I’m now wondering whether you’ve got mixed up between your credits and debits and in actual fact aren’t in arrears at all! Further investigation is definitely required.
you mentioned you had a smart meter....I would revisit your last gas and electricity statement and do the math on kwh usage etc to determine what your average winter spend is.My average monthly electricity bill for a 2 bed house is £40. I pay £51 DD, the extra £11 buffers me in the winter months for a little extra usage. I have no gas in my property. If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

no I am certain that they are not, I was for 3 years previously paying £130 per month.
My ex usually dealt with these things so it has all been new territory for me and to be honest it was not a big concern from me, I just worked on gaining my mortgage.

I would just give them a call tomorrow take down all the info they give you and then come back and we can go through it with youMum2Boys_2 said:no I am certain that they are not, I was for 3 years previously paying £130 per month.
