HI I keep seeing adverts for these so called cooking box's, where they send you all the stuff and you put it together. they've only evolved in the last couple of years. has anyone on here tried any of them. and would they be any good for one person, or they family orientated. don't really want to sign up to something if its going to be a waste of time and money.

I think they are best for two people. But you could have the second portion for lunch the next day maybe. We’ve been using Gousto for years and like it as it helps me try new recipes that I can then repeat just buying ingredients elsewhere. I don’t like HelloFresh as much0

To me it always seems to be a waste of money but perhaps not of time. The only money saving aspect could be for ingredients like herbs/spices where you need just a little and if you then didn't like the resulting dish you might never want to use that ingredient again.0 -
thanks for the replys. think I'll just keep going as I am for the time being, buying and eating as I go, with the help of my delia cookbook! thanks.1

But for me the value in Gousto is trying new meals, it "forces" me into making the recipe I choose to be delivered and stops me eating the same meals over and over again.2 -
Gousto has been a game changer for us. Our limited meal plan had become boring and repetitive. I started Gousto because my first 3 boxes were hugely discounted but we loved the recipes so much we would then have a box once a month with new recipes. We are at the stage now where we have a folder full of recipes we love and we recreate all the time buying our own ingredients.
Have just had our first Hello Fresh box delivered.......again due to being hugely discounted. Ive seen a few people who have tried both and preferred Gousto. Have to say the Gousto site is easier to navigate.
Back to OP......my son who lives on his own has had 2 boxes and likes the meals but dont know if it would be economical for him to carry on. He is 6ft 4 so eats the double portion
Depending on the recipe.....I guess one portion could be frozen for another time?Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £603 -

for each meal, i learnt something new.
You get heavily discounted first box, which will work out the same, if not cheaper than supermarket prices.
you can try a box each from different company and then stop subscribing if you want to save moneyAim to retire by 45.1 -
I've been using Gousto for quite a while now - I get 4 meals per box for 4 people - I choose meals that are easy to freeze, like pasta bakes, curries, one pot dishes, lasagne etc and actually find that I get more than 4 portions out of most, sometimes 6 or 7!! So you can regularly get over 20 portions per box for under £50 which is pretty good value!1

I live on my own and have been getting hello fresh for a few months now, and I love it! I've had it on an offer so I got 50% off the first box and 35% off the next 5 boxes, I maybe wouldn't pay full price for it. I also only get on every 2 weeks because it lasts me 8 days, I only have to cook every other day and just have one portion for 2 nights in a row. It's super convenient and I find just having some inspiration for what to cook is so nice, I was totally out of ideas for dinners and now I have the recipes from the boxes I can make them again in the future too, it's added a load of new recipes to my repertoire!3

My children and their partners have tried various ones of these and all speak highly of them. They send each other discount codes to get the best value. I don’t think they would do it all the time but it certainly makes a change. I had hello fresh for a short time and I really enjoyed it. I never would’ve thought of having some of those dishes as a mid week meal. Food should be something we look forward 😃1
