Spectacles and sizing

Like most during Corvid, we need to buy most things on-line. My spectacles broke, ok I could visit my local optician but ya know what, why not buy online and save money!
But with me I'm short sighted, how do I get the correct frames, well I have been researching face types and there any many sites saying what colour and shapes suit etc
What about Pupil Distance, well most of the time your optician won't give PD or MD as you can then buy online go to a reglazing online company and save a truck load!
Well that's what I want to do! save £200-300, which I worked out I can! Do your pupils have to be centered in the lens or not? Is PD essential?
i.e if my pupil distance is 61mm does this mean I wouldn't be able for example buy a 50mm lens width with a bridge or 23mm = 73mm I need to get smaller glasses to = 61mm,as I understand you take the lens width + bridge width this should equal your PD approx or be close.
Very confusing, but for exact fitting I find myself almost giving up! temple to temple length I understand = frame width yes, but what about PD, any help from someone would be great, if I can pull this off and save 50% off a frame, measure my PD, and buy a thin lens 1.74 curve for half the price an optician will charge, I will save £300!
That is a saving!
