Creditors..

I started a DMP on the 1st of this month but I'm constantly getting phone calls whilst at work. Is there a way to stop them pestering me or maybe inform them I'm on a DMP plan etc via email? The DMP hasn't paid any of my CC or Loans yet which is a little annoying. Just after some advice really

Yes simply write to them, or email them, inform them of your DMP, and tell them how you want to be contacted in future.
Thats normally the first thing you do anyway.

I wasn't advised to do this, just told to cancel all DD and they'd do the rest. I'll email all of them over the weekend and explain

I got a charge notice this morning from a CC asking to be paid the minimum or a late fee would be added. I already assumed that Payplan had paid them. Any advice please? Bit annoying as I've never missed a payment since 2019.

  • I had this too - a late charge from Barclaycard.  Just be patient.  I had a letter from PayPlan in the last few days to confirm that all the creditors had accepted the offers, I set up the DMP at the end of November and the first payment went out at the beginning of January.

Ladies an Gents, defaults, late payments, charges etc are all part and parcel of debt management.

These are large organisations, whose departments don`t tend to communicate well with each other, it takes time for your DMP status to trickle down to ground level, they may very well keep charging you or adding interest, that only stops for good once the account defaults.

That`s why we recommend non payment for a few months to achieve that default, then you avoid all this initial hassle.

Ah okay. Well I applied for 28 days breathing space whilst they wait for payplan to get in touch with them

  • The quicker the account defaults, the quicker the clock starts on the 6 years required to have it drop off your credit history.
