help regarding moorcroft

Hi,
I've been dealing with moorcroft for the last couple of months, due to a problem with an old mobile phone. I owed just over £127 and moorcroft agreed to let me pay £30 a month, then a final repayment of £27. However due to a cashflow shorfall (run up to christmas etc etc!) there wasn't enough money in my account to cover one of the payments. I received a letter from the bank at the end of last week explaining this, and also telling me they'd make the payment as soon as my account had enough money in. I got paid on Tuesday 4th Dec and my statement shows a payment of £30 has been paid to moorcroft. However, this morning I recieved a letter from moorcroft saying how I "defaulted on your agreement to pay £30 a month with the result that you are now in arrears for the some of £30". I'm instructed to make this payment by post, attaching it to the letter. The letter is dated the 5th, around the time the should have received my delayed payment.
I've emailed them explaining that the money HAS come out of my account, albeit a couple of days late, so should I just sit tight and await a reply from them? They're threatening "legal procedings" against me.
didn't mean to ramble on so much, hope it makes sense! Any help would be muchly appreciated!!

Looks like you payment has reached them after they sent the letter, do bear in mind that they are within their rights to demand the full payment, as you have defaulted on the agreement with them. Hopefully it wont come to that. How many more payments do you have to make?[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j

Just 1 more payment of £27.52 or something like that, which should be fine for me to pay should it come to that.
Should I just wait for another letter/email to arrive from those "lovely" folk then? Don't want to talk to them if I don't have to, I hate talking on the phone at the best of times!
Thanks for your help!0 -
I would not even worry about it - if the money has gone out of your account - it will be in theirs within a few days and has been said - it has crossed over with the automated letter that has been generated from those "nice" people.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0

Okay thank you! Will just make sure I make the final payment on time then I can forget about the fabulous people at moorcroft.
Oh how I'll miss them...:p0 -
Oh how I'll miss them...:p
I'm sure you will, Shorty.
Just be careful that, in their unbounded generosity, those public benefactors don't, inadvertantly of course, slap on a wopping great penalty charge for 'late payment'.
Oh, how we all love the 'MOORCROFT' philanthropists. :eek:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Don't know if this will help, but you can request a statement of account from Moorcroft via their website You will need your account reference number, it worked for me, the statement arrived in the post about 3 days later. I guess in your case it depends when they payment left your bank, but putting in a request over the weekend should do the job. Doing it that way avoids the grief of having to talk to them.
Hope this helps0
