What is classed as taxable income?

I am guessing everything that gets declared. I will have a local government pension and a state pension from 2029.
If I retire before the state pension age I will have my LGPS, a SIPP and perhaps part-time or self-employed work.
I have an ISA at the moment, but I am moving the funds into a SIPP. My LGPS is now at £5,000 per year and is unlikely to be around £6,000/£7,000 per year if I start claiming it in a couple of years, I am 59 now and earn around £1,200 per month after tax.

  • LGPS = taxable
    State Pension = taxable
    ISA = non taxable
    SIPP = depends
    The TFLS from a SIPP is not taxable.  The rest of the SIPP is taxable.
    Some people take 25% TFLS upfront, some take it as part of each payment i.e. £16,666/year of which £4,166 is TFLS and £12,500 is taxable.
